Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes. It acts as a shock absorber and supports the arch of the foot.
Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis:
Pain:
The most common symptom is a stabbing pain near the heel, typically felt with your first steps in the morning or after long periods of rest. The pain may lessen as you move but can return after prolonged standing or activity.
Heel Tenderness:
The heel may feel tender to the touch or upon bearing weight, especially along the bottom and front of the heel.
Stiffness:
You may experience stiffness or tightness in the bottom of your foot, particularly in the morning or after sitting for an extended period.
Difficulty Walking:
Some individuals may find it difficult to walk or stand for long periods due to the pain and discomfort.
Swelling:
Inflammation of the plantar fascia can lead to mild swelling in the affected area.
Gradual Onset:
Symptoms often develop gradually over time rather than suddenly.
